Why is my boiler losing pressure?
If you've noticed your boiler pressure keeps dropping, you're not alone – it's one of the most common questions we get from homeowners across Poole, Bournemouth and Dorset.

There are a few possible reasons:
✔️ A leak somewhere in your heating system, such as a radiator valve or pipework
✔️ A faulty pressure relief valve that's allowing water to escape
✔️ An issue with the expansion vessel inside the boiler
✔️ Bleeding radiators, which can sometimes reduce system pressure
Can I just keep topping it up?
While you can repressurise your boiler if the pressure is low, needing to do this regularly usually means there's an underlying issue that needs attention. Repeated pressure loss shouldn't be ignored, as it can affect your heating system's efficiency and potentially lead to further problems.
When should I call an engineer?
If you're finding yourself topping up the pressure more than occasionally, or if the pressure drops again shortly after repressurising, it's worth having the system checked by a professional.
At Coastal Heat, we're proud to help homeowners throughout Poole, Bournemouth and Dorset keep their heating systems running smoothly all year round. If you're concerned about your boiler pressure, our friendly team is always happy to offer advice.
